Ultrasound

So I finally had my “20-week ultrasound.” I put that in quotes because I’m nearly 25 weeks, and it was the soonest they could schedule me. I don’t have any definite information since the technician is not authorized to say whether everything looks healthy or not, but from what we could see, it looked great. The heart was pumping away and the little guy or girl seemed to be moving around quite a bit. I’ll find out for sure next week at my doctor appointment if everything looks ok.

The technician asked us if we wanted to know the gender, and Mark was strong and said “no.” I said, “so you know?!” And then that was it…we didn’t find out. I’m glad because it’s so fun to be surprised and excited, but I just get so curious. I’m just putting in my guess now…it’s a boy. There, that’s what I think. No real reason for that other than I think she stayed away from waist-down pictures of the little squirt inside. Mark thinks I’m full of it, but I just have to officially post my best guess. Then if I’m right, I can say “I told you so,” and if I’m wrong, then, oh well. :) Any other inclinations from any of you out there?! Many of you had a feeling that Maddie was a girl, and you were right…any revelations for me?!

Oh, one last update in our lives…we signed escrow papers today, so it’s looking like we’ll close mid-next week and move in on Friday, Dec. 12!!! Can’t wait!!!!

Some Perks to Being Sick…

Reading with Daddy in his favorite brown recliner…

Napping with Daddy in his favorite brown recliner…

And Mommy feeling justified in making one fun new baby purchase :)

So, obviously, the Leonard house is still sick and slowly plodding along. It’s been a long three weeks or so that started with a simple cold, turned into an ear infection, and then a week later into a random stomach flu. Maddie got it first, and then Mark got it. Just when I thought Maddie was getting better, she got bad again. I took her to extended care yesterday (the place to go on the weekends) because she wasn’t holding anything down and I was concerned that she was getting dehydrated. Four hours later (and have I mentioned that I’m NOT the most patient person??), we were on our way home with no more answers than when I had first gotten there. You gotta love waiting rooms and being poked with needles and all those fun things that go along with doctor visits. The one comfort I had when leaving that office was knowing that Maddie had been given A LOT of fluids through the iv, so she wasn’t dehydrated anymore. So far today she hasn’t thrown up, but I’m not holding my breath.

Mark is feeling much better, but Maddie has a little ways to go yet. Please pray that we’ll all be better soon! It’s taking its toll on us, as you could well imagine. :)

Feeling Much Better…both of us!

Thank you so much, all of you who have been praying for Maddie and me! We are finally both functioning again. :) Maddie had her first full night of sleep last night (in two weeks), which was such a great gift to me. I can’t believe how refreshed I felt this morning after a full night of rest. It is a good reminder of those sleepless nights ahead, though. I realized that I am almost halfway through this second pregnancy…crazy! Since I was feeling better, I let Mark take a profile belly shot of me. Here’s my growing tummy…

Maddie playing on her own today…and smiling!

Sporting her UND shirt from Gpa and Gma Leonard…it fits her perfectly now. (I remember when they gave it to her and thinking how big it looked) :)

The Redlands Christian School staff put on a beautiful shower for me and another girl last week. Sarah Schenkel put a lot of planning into this. It was so much fun!

The power of the one-ring has given the sign

Jill is now convinced that we’re having a boy. Why? Because last night her bunko buddies conducted a centuries old magic bunko spirit ritual test to determine the sex of the baby. Let me explain: The magic is very easy to summon. You must first, pluck a hair from the expecting woman’s head. Second, suspend the woman’s wedding ring from the hair above her upturned wrist. If the wring spins in circles you’re having a girl. If it sways from side to side, it’s a boy. Oh, there’s a third requirement for the magic to make an accurate prediction, you must be completely unzipped from all attachments to reality or rational thought.

Here’s a look at Jill 35 weeks pregnant.

Baby room tour 2

The sequel to the first compelling video, Baby Room Tour 2 promises even more twists and turns than its predecessor. The producers have even acquired the use of an exotic jungle dog from the deserts of Mentone, CA. A must see!
